Akilah dasilva foundation

About

The Akilah Dasilva Foundation was created by Akilah Dasilva’s family in response to the murder of Akilah Dasilva in the Antioch, TN Waffle House mass shooting on April 22, 2018. The Foundation’s charitable purposes are to prevent gun violence and other forms of violence and victimization through education and awareness. By creating a culture of engaged youth and adults committed to identifying, intervening, and getting help for individuals who might be at risk of hurting themselves or others, we can emphasize promoting peace and love as evidenced by the artistic endeavors and memories of Akilah Dasilva. During his life, Akilah spoke against guns and violence in his music and more. A verse from Akilah’s song PROPHET provided “Forget about making a hashtag, let’s throw all the guns in a trash bag.”
